Dark Ages is a turn-based strategy game set in the brutal world of the alternate Middle Ages. Vikings fighting battle elephants, musketeers against Mongol cavalry, ancient phalanx against crusaders; the deadliest armies in history clashing in

bloody war.

An army without a commander is just a bunch. In the Dark Ages, soldiers follow the orders of their leaders: unique leaders with their own strengths, flaws, talents and weaknesses.

Sit on the throne of a small kingdom torn apart by strife and threatened by warlike neighbors, and try to survive the Dark Ages.

Features of the game

• Six factions with unique generals and teams: agile nomads of the Horde, well-armored and disciplined soldiers of the Empire, crazy fur-clad Normans, League guilds possessing gunpowder weapons, proud Knights of the Order, and exotic sects of Mesopotamia.
• More than 50 team types based on real historical units. No armored bikinis or spiky shoulder pads!
• If they survive the battle, your teams will gain experience and develop their skills. New recruits mean nothing to a battle-hardened veteran.
• Generals are the foundation of teams, and their skills and abilities can seriously affect the outcome of battles. Each general has their own personality generated at the beginning of each game. Everyone has their own appearance, character traits and abilities. It is impossible to predict who will appear in the next round: a brave but simple knight, a talented but greedy tactical genius or a bloodthirsty barbarian who causes fear in

friends and enemies.

• A pantheon of chosen generals: put your greatest leaders here to re-use them from campaign to Pantheon of chosen generals: put your greatest leaders here to reuse between campaigns, or hire legendary figures that inspire fear and awe, such as Joan of Arc or Genghis Khan.
• Countless scenarios offer a great variety of different challenges: win a civil war, defeat the nomads, deal with pirates invading the coasts, save a kingdom ravaged by plague, or crush a peasant rebellion.
• Combat formations: Deploying your troops effectively is half the battle success. Tactical tricks, fortresses and ambushes are at your disposal. Win battles with quality, not quantity

• Terrain and weather: even the most perfect army can lose in adverse conditions. It’s usually a good idea to lure enemy cavalry into the swamps, under fire from your archers, but remember that rain and fog render them useless

• Upgrade the weaponry and armor of your soldiers in the Royal Forge.
