Field of Glory II

Field of Glory II is a turn-based tactical game set during the Rise of Rome, from 280 to 25 BC.

The game that brought the fun and excitement of a board game to digital is back. Created by legendary designer Richard Bodley Scott with a full 3D engine, Field of Glory is ready to set new standards for computer wargames.

Field of Glory II will allow you to fight big and small battles on the side of or against Rome, or between other nations that are still unaware of the threat from Rome, or battles of the “What if…” genre between nations that have never historically fought each other, but could have done so if history had turned out differently.

Take command of a vast variety of armies using vastly varied tactical doctrines. Lead your chosen army and its generals to victory in distinctive historical battles or your own “What if…” battles against an AI or human opponent.

Victory will require determination and tactical mastery!

GAME FEATURES:

  • A faithful simulation of ancient battles of the last 3 centuries before the birth of Christ.
  • 86 historically accurate units, built from fully animated 3D models of soldiers, each with multiple variants. They allow Field of Glory II to showcase the full variety of unit types and tactical doctrines that have made this era one of the most interesting for players and historians of war. To name a few, in the game you will find Roman legionaries before and after the reforms of consul Marius, Greek hoplites and Carthaginian African spearmen, Hellenistic phalanxes of pikemen, thureophoroi spearmen and xystophoroi lancers, Gallic bands of arms, Scythian horse archers, Sarmatian lancers, Roman, Carthaginian, Greek and Gallic horse spearmen, war elephants, Celtic and Indian chariots, scythe chariots, a multitude of light vessels and much, much more.
  • 12 historical scenarios depicting key battles from this period on an epic scale. These include the battles of Bagradas 255 BCE, Trebia 218 BCE, Canna 216 BCE, Ilipa 206 BCE, Zama 202 BCE, Magnesia 190 BCE, Pydna 168 BCE, Chaeronesia 86 BCE, Tigranocerta 69 BCE, Bibracte 58 BCE, Carrhae 53 BCE, and Tapsus 46 BCE. The player can play on either side.
  • The custom battle system allows you to play unlimited “What if…” scenarios using realistic armies from carefully researched army lists, on realistic computer-generated terrain maps. The armies included in the game include the Romans, Carthaginians, Hellenic kingdoms (Macedonia, Seleucids, Egypt, Ptolemaic, etc.), Gauls, ancient Britons, Galatians, Iberians, Numidians, Spartacus Revolt, Thracians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Parthians, Indians, and many more.
  • The campaign mode will allow you to rewrite history as you forge careers on the battlefields of some of the greatest generals of antiquity, or wage war against any ancient nation. Each victory increases the experience and enthusiasm of your core units. Making strategic decisions quickly will allow you to move from battle to battle without any delays.
  • The random map generator creates an endless variety of historically realistic battlegrounds for random battles and campaigns. Scenarios include open battles, pursuit, waiting for reinforcements, enemy waiting for reinforcements, flanking march, rearguard actions, frontal assault, and transport protection.
  • Classic turn-based, tile-based gameplay.
  • Easy-to-use interface, hard-to-master gameplay.
  • Entities with cohort size. Battles can range in size from clashes of a few units to battles with 80 units on one side.

  • Multiplayer mode allows two players to play historical and “What if…” scenarios using an easy-to-use PBEM server.
