Planet Alcatraz
A role-playing game set in futuristic climates. “Planet Alcatraz” combines selected elements of the “Fallout” and “Jagged Alliance” series. A lot of emphasis was placed on the tactical layer. “Dungeon Cleaners” is set on a desolate planet that now serves as a prison. Criminals and dishonest citizens of the Intergalactic Empire are sent here. The player takes on the role of one of these people. His primary problem is survival. He has to find his way on a planet full of murderers, thieves and crooks. As in many other role-playing games, the main plot is only revealed later in the game.
The gameplay was realised in real time. This also applies to fairly frequent battles. The authors of “Dungeon Cleaners” have developed a completely new RPG system for the game, competing with the existing ones (m.in. AD&D). During the game, the player can use about 80 types of weapons. He has at his disposal various armors, melee weapons, as well as futuristic weapons. Of course, individual models differ in firepower, accuracy, range or the type of ammunition used.
Even before you start the actual game, you need to create your own character. The player must determine her gender and appearance. He has at his disposal an extensive tool that allows you to customize the appearance of the hero to your liking (eye color, hair color, face appearance, clothing, and even the presence of tattoos). Conversations with non-player characters (NPCs) play an important role during the game. They are largely nonlinear. NPCs (there are about two hundred of them) take into account many factors – the previous actions of the player-controlled hero, his gender, and even his appearance.
The graphics of “Dungeon Cleaners” are reminiscent of traditional role-playing games. The action is observed in an isometric view. A significant part of the screen is taken up by the user interface.
