Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York aims to translate the complex and fascinating world of vampires, their nocturnal power struggles and attempts to prey on humanity, into a format previously unexplored by the franchise – an atmospheric narrative experience. Think that an interactive story meets choices that matter; a dark, moody, emotional narrative meets Telltale to create morally difficult dilemmas that are entirely up to the players to answer, allowing them to reach one of many possible endings.

How is Coteries of New York played?

You perform as a newly created vampire in New York City. You have to find out what it means to be one of the Kindred in a vast, bustling, modern-day metropolis. Along the way, you will meet various NPCs – other vampires, bloodsuckers, ghouls, humans… and more. You’ll complete quests that will put your humanity to the test and take part in the complex and often brutal power struggle between the Camarilla and the Anarchs. You’ll build your Coterie and learn the deepest secrets of your undead comrades… or see them abandon you. You will feast on the living and question yourself about the very nature of humanity and feel the constant bait of the Beast within you. You’ll make choices for the characters, including which stories to continue and how to approach the different situations presented. You’ll take part in a narrative with branching dialogue, memorable characters – all among the iconic locations of the Big Apple. You’ll be able to use Disciplines to charm, sneak, intimidate, or kill, and your choices will determine your path.

Yes, exactly! Coteries of New York is set in the licensed universe of Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition! However, even if you don’t know anything about this setting, don’t worry! The game is designed to meet the expectations of both veterans of Vampire: The Masquerade and new players who have never had the opportunity to delve into the world of darkness.

What about reproducibility and post-launch handling?

You will be able to choose your character from three different vampires, representing the three iconic Camarilla Clans (we will reveal them later). Each character has access to a different set of Disciplines (unique supernatural abilities specific to that Clan) and a different narrative. Your initial choice also affects the attitude of the Coterie members towards you, lines of dialogue, possible side quests, etc. That’s why it takes hours to prepare each piece of content. You’ll go through the main quest, side quests, and loyalty quests (designed to build a closer relationship between the hero and the members of your Coterie). BUT, one playthrough is definitely not enough to see every piece of material we’ve prepared.

In terms of post-launch support, you can certainly expect new indie stories, enriching the lore, telling different gory stories from the history of vampiric New York, and adding new twists to interpersonal storylines.

Coteries of New York will be available on PC (Windows, Mac OS, Linux). The game will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in the first quarter of 2020.
